Monday:  R/B 6:30-7:00 pm     S/G 7:00-8:00 pm

Tuesday:  No Practice

Wednesday:  R/B 6:30-7:15 pm     S/G 7:15-8:30 pm

Thursday:  R/B 6:30-7:15 pm     S/G 7:15-8:30 pm

Friday:  R/B 6:30-7:15 pm     S/G 7:15-8:30 pm

Saturday:  Home Meet - Be on Deck by 7:45 am,  Meet starts at 9:00 am

Concession Stand Donations Needed

We need your concession stand donations for the home meet on January 10th.  All items that are sold will benefit the swim team.  Items needed:

• Cans of Pop
• Gatorade/Fruit Drinks/Juice Boxes
• Case of Bottled Water
• Candy Bars
• Chips
• Fruit
• Pkg. muffins/snack cakes/cookies
• Novelty candy

Please bring your donation to the pool deck during practice by Friday, January 9.

How To Find Out if the Meet is Canceled:

Because the meet is at Hudsonville, having the meet (or not) is their call.  Generally, the only way a meet is canceled is if the school hosting the meet shuts down and cancels all activities for the day.  The Hudsonville coach will call me between 6:00 and 6:30am (or as soon as he is told) if the meet is canceled.  The Hudsonville school district will call the TV stations to have them announce an activities cancelation.  I will also call the TV stations and ask them to announce that the meet is canceled.  I will also try 105.7 radio.  So if you see: HUSONVILLE SCHOOLS ALL ACTIVITES CANCELED or NCST SWIM MEET CANCELED, go back to bed.  These should appear no later than 6:45am.  If you choose not to come to the meet because you feel it is too bad to drive, please call a board member and let them know.  Also, I would still like swimmers on deck by 7:45 but will try to hold off on taking swimmers out of events for those who get a late start because they are waiting for a cancelation notice.

PRACTICE CANCELED BECAUSE OF SNOW DAY!!

We will have no practice today (Friday 12/19/08) because the school is closed for the snow day.  The school policy is that the pool is closed to us if the school day has been canceled because of the weather.  It doesn’t matter what the condition of the roads are at 6:00pm.  This does not effect the meet tomorrow.  Please plan to  swim at Hudsonville tomorrow unless you hear otherwise.

If you need directions to the meet, click on the word Hudsonville in the calendar window just to the right.  It will give you meet details and an option to click on the word “Map”. I have also (I think) fixed the calendar so that there are no more “am” times or missing red/blue group times.

Hudsonville Meet Information

The Hudsonville meet will take place at the Hudsonville High School Pool on Saturday (12/20/08).  Please let a coach know ASAP if your swimmer will not attend.  The meet starts at 9:00am and warm ups will begin shortly after 8:00.  Swimmers should be on the pool deck by 7:45.  Coaches will need time to write events on every swimmers hand, determine who is there, and make any changes.  Many parents bring their swimmers still in pajamas and have them change into a suit after checking in with a coach.  I can not promise that swimmers who show up after 8:00am will have more than 1 or 2 swims.  During the meet, please encourage your child to stay on deck instead of with you or in the locker rooms.  This will help us to be sure they do not miss a swim.  Also, bringing snacks and things to pass the time is encouraged.  That said, messy foods and expensive toys/gaming systems are usually a bad idea.

Thank You!

I want to say THANK YOU to the swimmers, parents, Board Members and Coaches for your wonderful support and dedication you have given me during my time as Head Coach of NCST!  You have been a second family to me and I want to thank the SWIMMERS for that!  My life has changed in the last 2 seasons with NCST.  As Aquatics Team Leader at MVP Athletic Club,  I no longer have the time needed to run the program at Northview, the way it needs to be run.  My children are now older and are involved in many different activities that I don’t want to miss.  We need family time when we can get it! 

I will be around to help out when needed, if my schedule will allow me too.  I will miss NCST terribly, but I know it is in good hands and Tim Sugiyama will do a great job!!  He knows his stuff, loves the kids, and is a dedicated coach.  You also have a great coach in Seth Howe as well.  Jeff Castle has volunteered for the past few seasons and is a great help!  NCST can’t do as much without the volunteers to help run it!  Get involved in helping out at Meets, Fundraising and organizing fun activities for your kids during the swim season, they will appreciate you later in life and you will have some great memories to talk about for years!  Ask questions, communicate with your coaches and board members.  They want your involvement!

Please know that this team means the world to me!   Keep up the great work of running and supporting a FUN Team!

I will miss you!

(I will be in on Monday, Dec. 15th to talk with the swimmers before they leave their practice.)

Great Start to a New Season!

Wow!  We have lots of swimmers this season!  Welcome to all of our new swimmers!.  We look forward to a season of hard work and fun times! 

Our first meet is on
Sat. Dec. 20th at Hudsonville. 8am warm up, 9am start.  Please be at the pool in Hudsonville by 7:30am.

Look for a sign up sheet on the bulletin board outside the pool area.

We will also be scheduling a Parent Meeting next week.  More info to come.
